Welcome to the Backcountry Ball 2023! Get ready for an epic night of fun to kick off the ski season! Gather with old friends and meet new ones! Join us at The Maggie on Peak 9 for an unforgettable in-person event. Enjoy dinner, drinks, and a silent auction filled with all the ski gear you can imagine! Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or just starting to explore the backcountry in Summit County, this event is for you. All proceeds from this event will benefit Summit Huts to help us maintain our network of backcountry huts. We hope you can joing us for the 21st Annual Backcountry Ball. See you there!

The Summit Huts Association (SHA) is a nonprofit organization that helps people play in some of the tallest mountains in America. SHA does so by maintaining four high-altitude cabins between Searle Pass and Boreas Pass along the Continental Divide in Summit County, Colorado. Since the first of those cabins was built more than 30 years ago, countless adventurers from near and far have made themselves at home in the rustic but well-equipped huts, whether for a night or a week. To visit one of these huts — and ski powder, hike or bike high-alpine singletrack, or just sit in front of the window deep in thought — is a celebration of the high life many of us know and love.

Every autumn, Summit Huts’ supporters, friends, and mountain kin gather to partake in an informal yet rousing coming-of-winter party known as the Backcountry Ball. This year will be the 21st annual celebration of the Ball, a tenure that speaks to the strong backcountry community associated with Summit Huts as well as that community’s desire to have a good time. The Ball is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Summit Huts, and to keep it that way, we are fortunate to have a wonderful group of supporters both in the business sense as well as the social sense. People attend the party to catch up with old friends, drink a few frosty microbrews or pop, enjoy a hearty meal, and check out some of the best ski and outdoors gear known to man (and woman).

Tickets are available to purchase online only, there will be no ticket sales day of event. Seating will be available both inside and outside on the deck. Dress code is mountain casual, aka your finest puffy jacket or favorite Nordic sweater.

Doors open at 5 P.M. Saturday, October 7th, 2023.
